This Privacy Policy explains how Pool Guardian LLC (“Pool Guardian,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at pool-guardian.net, our mobile and web apps, and our pool-monitoring hardware and cloud services (together, the “Service”).

1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you create an account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google.
- Purchase information — orders and subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Stripe handles your full card details; we receive only limited billing information such as your subscription status and a payment confirmation. We do not store full card numbers.
- Communications — information you submit through our contact and Pool Professional inquiry forms (such as name, email, optional phone number, company name, and your message), and any warranty registration or support requests.
Information from your device and use of the Service
- Device data — a hardware identifier for your controller (its network MAC address), water-level sensor readings, temperature readings, pump activity and events, firmware version, connection status, and the IP address your device connects from.
- App and website usage — log and diagnostic data, device and browser type, pages viewed, and analytics events (see Cookies & analytics).
- Push notification tokens — if you enable notifications, a token provided by Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver alerts to your device.
We do not collect precise geolocation data.
2. How we use information
- Operate the Service — monitor your pool’s water level, control your pump, and send you alerts and status.
- Process payments and manage your subscription.
- Send transactional messages — device alerts, service notices, and account communications — by email, SMS, or push notification.
- Provide customer support and warranty service.
- Maintain, secure, and improve the Service and our website.
- Detect and prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described here:
Service providers. We use trusted third parties to run the Service. They may process your information only to provide services to us, under contract:

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Pool Guardian, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If Pool Guardian is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Cookies & analytics
- Essential cookies. When you sign in, we set a secure, HTTP-only session cookie so you stay logged in. The Service will not work properly without it.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how our website is used so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data. Where required, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential analytics cookies.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and you are using the Service. After you cancel or delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it longer for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained.
6. Your choices & rights
- Access, correct, or delete. You can view and update your account information in the app, or ask us to correct or delete it by emailing support@pool-guardian.net.
- Marketing. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time. Note that transactional alerts (such as a rising-water or offline alert) are core to the Service and cannot be turned off while your device is active.
- California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

7. Data security
We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Where we operate
Pool Guardian operates in the United States, and we process and store information in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
