Integrations

Pool Guardian works with your smart home.

Home Assistant, SmartThings and MQTT are all supported. Every one of them runs locally on your own network — no extra account, no cloud dependency, and nothing to type in. Your controller keeps working exactly as it does today.

These integrations report; they don't control. You can see water levels, temperatures, pump activity and freeze status, and build automations from them. Starting and stopping the pump stays in the Pool Guardian app. Your pool controller can drain a pool, and we're not putting that behind a smart-home command.

Home Assistant

Installs through HACS. Your controller is found automatically on the network — there's nothing to configure.

You'll need: Home Assistant 2025.2 or newer with HACS.

  1. In HACS, open the menu and choose Custom repositories.
  2. Add PoolGuardian/pool-guardian-homeassistant as an Integration.
  3. Download it and restart Home Assistant.
  4. Your controller appears under Devices & Services.
Setup instructions

SmartThings

A driver that runs on your SmartThings hub and finds your controller automatically.

You'll need: a SmartThings hub — a Station, an Aeotec hub, or a compatible Samsung TV or fridge.

  1. Open the link below and accept the channel invitation.
  2. Enroll your hub, then install the Pool Guardian driver.
  3. In the SmartThings app, choose Add device → Scan for nearby devices.

MQTT

Built into the controller. Point it at your own broker and it publishes everything, with Home Assistant discovery so entities appear on their own.

You'll need: an MQTT broker on your network.

  1. Open your controller's settings page on your network.
  2. Under MQTT, enter your broker address, port and credentials.
  3. Enable it and save — topics publish immediately.
